The Yashica lenses are rarely discussed but there are quite a few gems to be had in Yashica are a few with an old Yashica 50mm f1.4; paid $18 and love it!

    Was the lens Yashica ML?

I have ML 28mm/2.8, 35mm/2.8, 50mm/2.0, 50mm/1.7 & 50mm/2.0. All pretty nice. The macro lenses have quite good reputation and the 135mm/2.8 not so.

    Thank you all, kind words.
The Yashica was the DM m42 mount version.....there is a M version which is the best and is multi coated- inexpensive and a real gem....but this one is the plain ML version non-M.
I also have the bayonet Yashica 50 f1.9 and that lens is equally impressive- Contax made Yashica lenses thus the incredible image quality.

Nice portrait pictures and a nice lens.
For the M42 I've got the Yashinon DX 50mm 1.7 as one of my first legacy lenses. It's very dreamlike with open aperture.
The ML for c/y are other beasts. I've got the ML 50/1.4, 35/2.8, 50/2 and the 100/3.5 macro (and a few Zeiss c/y lenses). They don't need to hide from their Zeiss equivalents (besides perhaps the coatings) and Yashica should had learned the one or other by their cooperation

I agree- there's so many people looking for old Canon FD lenses and other popular vintage glass when these incredibly affordable Yashica lenses are all over eBay......both of my Yashica 50's are excellent and surpass my older Mamiya lenses.
The full res versions of these photos show individual strands of hair- that's an incredible amount of resolve for an old 35mm film lens.
    Thanks for the kind words.

If I remember correctly, Tomioka did made lenses for Yashica. When Zeiss and Yashica started CY camera business Yashica acquired Tomioka and both Contax and Yashica lenses were made there. There are some rumours that Yashica 135mm/2.8 was made by Tokina.

After trying a Yashinon DS 50mm f/2, I became a big fan of Yashica. Sublime rendering and excellent sharpness. I have their DX 50mm f/1.7, f/2, 35mm f/2.8, 135mm f/2.8; their DS 50's in f/1.4, f/1.7, f/1.9 and the f/2. I added the multi-coated DS-M 50mm f/1.7. I believe you were actually referring to this series, as it's M42, and I'm not aware of a DM line. The ML is supposed to use the same multi-coating. I have their ML 50 f/1.7. I think of it as the sibling of the Contax Planar.
Of these, my favorites are the radioactive single-coated DS and DX 50-f/1.7. The warmer colors are so nice.

You got a steal for the f1.4 at only $18! And your daughter looks great, the lens really flatters for portraits.

Nice shots! I have a ML 50 f/2 and I like it a lot—very sharp wide open, sharper than my SMC Takumar 55/2 (although Canon FDn 50/1.4 is even sharper at f/2)...
