Some random flora I ran across on my weekend hike. The delicate white flowers just beginning to bloom in #3 & #4 are White Snakeroot. According to folk lore, these little beauties caused the death of many early American settlers when their cows ate the plants and passed the potent toxin on through their milk. The malady was known as "Milk Sickness". The final photo is Paw-paw, which is oh so edible. The fruit is sporadic, and being quite delicious, I doubt I'll see this particular fruit again. It will ripen in a few weeks, and it was hanging directly over the center of the trail easily within reach of someone slightly over six feet tall . . .like me. I did find a nice little crop of the fruit a couple of Autumns ago, and it made for a delightful snack as I was hiking. NEX-6 + PEN F 38/1.8
