The day before I drove out to eastern Washington and got Bimjo to come out and play, I had made my annual visit to the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend. The boats themselves weren't very photogenic on that day, but I still found some things that attracted my eye.

Love the Hood Canal and Autumn is Coming shots. I think there may be something wrong with the 24 though. You should send it to me for extensive and exhaustive testing, just to make sure it's ok. :p

Neat. Not living near the ocean I don't get a lot of opportunities to see ships.

I think you may be right, Jim. At the end of the day, I was sitting out on the deck of my favorite restaurant in Port Townsend, and everything in the viewfinder got kind of blurry. I can't figure out why.

You can cut the atmosphere in 4 and 5 with a knife, I like the whole set but I especially love 4 & 5 for atmosphere and 3 for the look on that seagull's face. He looks very disconcerted. :) Thanks for posting these, I hope to visit Washington some day. Was out driving Highway 1 in California a few years ago for my honeymoon and fell in love with the north-west.

I almost didn't get those. While I was driving north on 101 I saw those views out the window, but was intent on getting to the boat show and just kept on driving. Then, about a half mile up the road I asked myself: "What's your damn hurry?" So I turned around and stopped to take those two photos. I hope it's a lesson that sticks with me.

And since we don't have a "Thanks" button right now, my thanks to all who have responded!

Great set! That 55-210 looks like a real fun lens, I may have to look into getting one.

Yes, I've been pleasantly surprised by that lens. And now that I've picked up the VCL-DH1758 1.7X teleconverter, I'm even happier. 535mm equivalent focus length with autofocus and OIS. Not too shabby!

I had to google what the VCL-DH1758 is. You must share photos taken with that crazy contraption!

Well, there are a few images that shaolin95 has posted somewhere on this forum. And I've only taken a few simple test shots. But this one may give you some idea of its capabilities when mounted on the end of the 55-210:

    VCL-DH1758.

Taken handheld, at 1/400 sec., on a fairly hazy morning, from about two miles distance.

Apparently not. I'm no optical expert, though. Only repeating what I've read on the Internets. :p
