Trying to decide which to get -- an a7ii and an UWA lens to go with it, or a hot tub. Can't afford both.

    Which do you think :)

Depends! Are you single or married? If the later then the advice you receive from her will be MUCH better than what you receive here:)

lol. too true. Her response was "if that's what you want" which was not encouraging.

Nice thing about photo gear -- you can hide it better

The sad thing is that the A7 high end series and lens costs as much as a hot tub. ;-)

Hot tubs are nothing but giant Petri dishes. You couldn't get me to sit in one without first sealing me in shrink-wrap and dosing me with antibiotics. :laugh1:

Let's be honest - you asked this question on a photography site because you knew the answers would line up with what you already know you really want to do.

I look forward to seeing the UWA pictures.

The really sad thing is that people still buy hot tubs.

By overrated you mean for people in long term relationships, who don't drink, and afraid of strangers seeing them naked? (speaking for myself) Super overrated. For every drunk single co-ed may see it differently. As a friend of a friend with a hot tub, I don't miss those parties regardless if i'm in the tub or not. ;p

Hot tubs are for therapy and old muscles, too! Not just robes and candles, or beer and co-eds! :)

But seriously, I feel like I could use one, but I'd lose gear buying privileges for some time if I did.

I have to say, I did go to a few hot tub "parties" back in the single days.

My mother-in-law has one of those tubs that has the jets and heat, (she does not like calling it a hot tub ;)), and it is a massive relief on her arthritis.

Agree with you there! After some hard miles all day during a bike tour, a hot soak was much appreciated and did wonders. Especially after sundown and temps fell on top of things.
That's why I believe the better direction is having a true 'hot tub' in your bathroom. Have your jetted water, but not the added expense of a Jacuzzi.
Maintenance of water cleanliness, the 8-12hrs to preheat, the spills of food and drink into the water, and the annoying neighbor who now keeps inviting himself over to dip. :)

Very hard choice, what camera and lenses are you using now? That might help us decide for you.
