Which 20mm... SEL20F28 or adapted legacy Nikkor 20mm f2.8?

Have an Alpha 6000 and I'm missing a wide angle. I really liked my Leica X1 & 2 with the 36mm so I figure a 20mm should be close. I've read the DXO mark, semi unfavorable reviews of the Sony, but in the real world, would it still be better than a legacy Nikkor with my E-Nikon adaptor? Either would be around 300.00 USD

Have you also considered the Sigma 19mm F2.8? Can be had at about half the cost of the Sony and reportedly pretty good.

It really depends on if you want AF or not.

I will be curious to hear what you decide to do. While I like using my older Nikon manual focus lenses having the smaller camera is the reason I went with the Sony Nex.

I would probably keep the lens stopped down to f5-f8 so AF is probably not necessary. My main interest is IQ and rendering. I don't want to incorrectly assume that the legacy Nikon will necessarily be better than the newer, yet lower DXO rated Sony.

This might be the best solution if you already have the SEL20F28...the UWA converter is $95 USD.

The Sel20 gets a little soft below f5, but between f5-f8 it's point sharp. If you do some deep Googling, you should be able to find one under $250.

If you are located in the US, then check your local Best Buy stores to see if any of them still have them in stock for the sale price $159.

Online they are not in stock, but need to physically locate it in store...check for "open box" items.
    BB item number is 7960119.

    Good Luck! :)
