What is this part?

    Can anyone tell me what this is? I think it must be a mount adapter, but not sure.
    The part on top of the extension tubes shown on the pictures:

    The lens is Minolta MC Macro Rokkor QF 50mm f/3.5.

    This is a reversing ring. It was standard accessory with this lens.

    It allows you to mount the lens in the reversed position with or without the extension tube to get slightly higher magnification and improved corner sharpness in corners for flat subjects
