Okay I'll play! Favorite landscape: Pine Forest Range, Northern Nevada I drove 3000 miles through Nevada, Utah and Colorado this summer and wouldn't you know it - the best "keeper" happened within a tank of gas of home. Even stranger still, my favorite landscape got shot with a 50mm lens! (old pre-AI Nikkor-S 50/1.4) Favorite people shot: Robbie In Action This is my main musical employer and good friend, Robbie DaCosta. Canon FL55/1.2. Favorite home business product shot: Lapis/Turquoise Vase When conditions permit, I like to be spontaneous with my cataloging shots. Trying to shoot the product in a rapidly-shifting patch of sun, spontaneity is more than just allowed - it's required! I love heading outside with an armload of fresh wares and my Micro-Nikkor 105/2.8. If anyone's interested, I threw up a few more faves here: Best Of 2012 - jeffaddicott's Photos
The Flower and the Bridge NEX 5N SEL 55-210 (ƒ5.6 ISO-100 133mm 1/400) {} The Bee NEX 5N SEL 55-210 (ƒ7.1 ISO-100 190mm 1/400) {} Squat NEX 7 SEL 50 1.8 (ƒ2 ISO-100 50mm 1/160)
Well here is my submission. It's not shot on NEX, but my old trusty point-and-shoot Samsung WB550 and still makes me wish I had a NEX. It's not a technically or even artistically good photo, and I sure as heck didn't know as much about photography then as I do now. I've had it printed on 4x6 and it's fine, but it probably could have been so much more with all that ISO grain. But it's my best shot of the year because it captures the moment I realised I was really, actually, finally, a dad. Simone's about 1 hour old in that photo {}
It's not the gear, it's the content. Technical perfection & artistry in a pic is sometimes over rated. Forty years from now when you look at this pic it won't matter what the gear was, the memories it invokes will be what matters.
I agree, and actually this is one of a very few shots that had me considering NEX in the very first place !!!
