I've commuted to the glassblowing studio about 1400 times. I usually use the bicycle. Sometimes I drive. On a handful of occasions I've walked.

Today I set my alarm clock a full hour earlier than usual so I'd have time to 1) walk and 2) take photos. It is highly unusual for me to be up and about in frosty weather like this at sunrise. I think I'm going to have to do it more often!

I definitely want to walk a whole lot more, this year.

Great ones. Taken with the Sigma 30mm?

Yeah, that's worth getting up an hour early for. :)

These were indeed with the ever-reliable Sigma 30mm, my landscape roaming lens of choice.

I generally hate getting up early - wish I could get light like that when I really feel like getting going (say, 11:30?)

WOW, lucky you, and you nailed the moment, they're beautiful !
I too decided to take the camera this morning, but unlike yesterday (when I had left it at home, grrrr) the weather was low, grey, wicked cold, and absolutely nothing looked halfway enticing at all. I did take pictures, and mostly, they suck. It also reminded me how unremarkable the 18-55 is. Shhhhsh.

You're definitely taking your life in your hands walking down our steep streets these mornings, Jeff. My dogs take me out for my walk up Iowa Street every morning, and it's been a slanted ice skating rink lately. But I think you did a fine job capturing the frosty scene in our little town.
