My job takes me to some really out-of-the-way places from time to time. Sunday evening was one of those times. I arrived at the Walker Management Unit (Corps of Engineer thing) siding along the Snake river near sunset. Ended up waiting for the train until 10:30 PM. So, since I had the camera with me I took a couple of shots.

Started with a couple sunset shots, then went to the obligitory "infinity rail" shots, and ended up shooting the stars. Gotta throw the tripod in the bag though. Propping the camera on a fence post using the LCD and the bottom of the camera made me a little bit nervous.

All shots taken with the 5N and the Voigtlander (CV) 21/4

Doesn't look like a very crowded place :). Nice that your work takes you to this kind of locations, looks great.

For awhile it was just me and the bugs. :) Strangely there weren't any birds flying around, though there was an owl hooting down in the trees next to the river.

Great photos Jim! Personally I love #4 and #5

Only thing I could comment is that the blue's are perhaps a little intense :)

Mine too I think. Needs a big bull elk or something standing between the tracks though. :)

It was either that or throw rocks at cars & since the only car was the company van I was driving it didn't seem prudent to be throwin' rocks at it. ;)

Yeah, I did that on purpose, not sure it'll stay that way though. :p

Okay Nick, I reprocessed the worst offenders. These more accurately reflect the actual scene. :p

Gotta agree with Nick here, Jim. I liked the originals a lot, but I like these even more.

Well, just goes to show- I shouldn't process shots when I'm half asleep.

    Great shots all.
And the different versions of those few just shows how much of a fine line post processing decisions can be.

Your post processing skills are excellent

I on the other hand, am a total noob when it comes to post processing. I basically move the sliders until I see something I like, lol :D Sometimes I get that intense blue-ish tint too - when I'm trying to emphasize the blue sky for example but at the same time other (blue) areas are affected :dash2:
