I have found my best Vivitar lens yet, the Vivitar 35mm f/2.8 Auto Wide-Angle by Komine. I have been able to find very little information on this lens, despite the general opinion that Komine was one of the better manufacturers of Vivitar-labeled lenses. I have also not seen many of these on eBay, although the 35/2.8 Tokina version seems pretty common. Unlike the Komine-made Vivitar 35/1.9, which usually lists for $200-300 on eBay, the 35/2.8 versions can be had for $25-50. The one I received in the mail today looks brand new, and I am quite pleased with the image quality. Other than resizing for the Web, the images below are untouched JPEGs straight from the camera. These are the best untouched JPEGs I have seen from any of my Vivitar lenses. For the princely sum of $33 shipped, I found a gem. A bonus is the fact that it has a minimum focusing distance of about 12 inches, despite no mention of it being close focus on the lens or any of the smattering of information I have been able to find. Tony PS: look for the tiny butterflies in the 2nd Black-Eyed Susan photo.
