    Vivitar/Kiron 70-150 f/3.8 Close Focusing Auto Zoom (two-touch)

My Vivitar/Kiron 70-150 f/3.8 two-touch arrived yesterday. I thought I'd try something other than my usual flower shots as test subjects. Here are a few from around the airport on a foggy/hazy morning. This lens is the first adapted lens I've ever tried on a NEX that focuses exactly at infinity without going past a bit.

Yup. I edited the title to indicate it is the Close Focus version.

The first adapted lens I ever bought.

It is amazingly light for the range it covers and has pretty good results.

Indeed. Here's a test of its close focus capability; the lens was less than a foot from his head.

I came across this lens for a great price and picked it up. It had the 2x matched multiplier attached too.

Even though the images from this lens, found on forums across the 'net, are good to very good, it wasn't being considered since I wasn't impressed after two copies of its larger sibling, the 85-205 f/3.8 C.F. The front portion of this lens is mechanically the same design as the 70-150mm f/3.8.
I sure didn't need anymore zooms. Also, the focal range isn't one I normally grab, as I have an Olympus 70-150 f/4 sitting unused.

But I changed my mind after reviewing the initial test shots. Since there aren't any flower shots here, thought I'd throw a few up to compare with the one-touch version. The C.F. feature works better than most other lenses with this setting. It's build is tough and IMO, it's heavy, than amazingly light. :) The Olympus is significantly lighter. I've not been impressed with 2x teleconverters in the past, but Kino did a great job on this matched multiplier.

Just to see what it can do, here is a shot of the Full Moon at 300mm f/11 equivalent...

Shots of roses from the yard, late afternoon light, latter ones are with Close Focusing enabled. Impressive mid zoom from an era when zooms were performing poorly.
