I've had 3 of the f3.5s, and still have one. Never had a f2.8 version. I've found that every version has some difference in image quality.

I often use this 70-210 Series 1 3.0 Macro. This is the second version of this lens.

Those Series 1 Vivatars are top of the line and had a very good reputation back in the olden days of film. I never owned one because I couldn't afford one, back then. Hope you can post back your findings and some sample pics...

Cool!

I'm sure you've taken note of this before you bought them, but just have a look at those fast aperture specs...

f2.8 to f4 on the 70-210 zoom...

f2.8 to f3.8 on the 28-105 zoom.

Now THAT's not something you'll see often in todays modern spec zooms.

Yes that is why I did, I photograph a lot of concerts and low light.

Hopefully they will be pretty crisp.

Thanks. I'm excited.

So the 28/105 came today.
Snapped a few pics. I like it but it creeps when holding the camera up or down. Oh we'll. for the price it's great.

Those images really are impressive. Lovely bokeh, sharp, and the colours and contrast coming off the optic multicoating from those Vivitars are nice and rich.

Are those Series1 zooms easy enough to use considering the weight and no image stabilization? Are they keepers both of them?

Thanks!! Yes, they are both keepers. But they are heavy. I did just the color a bit on these. Not too much but it was an extremely overcast day today so turned up the saturation a tad.
