It is a REALLY fun lens to have on a NEX. Close focus to about 6-8 inches, nice feel to it and incredibly sharp images with a wonderful depth to them. I wish the subject matter were good enough for the lens.

These are the images of the lens from the person that I bought the lens from (I didn't take them). It's about the same size as my Konica 24/2.8. It's doesn't feel as solid but seem well made none the less. IQ wise it is really pretty nice. I got the lens and the adapter for about $120 (and that seems to be right in line with others I have seen listed). I think its a steal.

It really is. I find that I really enjoy the flexibility of getting close to the subject if I want. The lens is really sweet. I put this lens in the same category as my Konica 24/2.8 (although I think th eKonica renders a bit better...but it's really close). I do find that the colors on the Vivitar seem a bit over the top but its easily fixed in LR.

Here's a little more of what the lens can do sharpness wise...this was at f4 or f5.6 (I think).

That's a severe hang-over if I ever saw one! :D

I'm beginning to think this lens is quite rare. I've only found one so far, not exactly cheap either... but could be well worth it.

Yep, they aren't something you see everyday and not cheap in the way some adapted lenses (good ones) can be, but I am very impressed with it. That said, I think it's a deal considering what it is capable of. I would put it on par with my Konica 24/2.8 and those seem to fetch between $175-$200 USD so it's a deal compared to that. It has a very nice silky smooth action that is really nice to use. The lens feels a bit lighter than I expected relative to my Konicas and Super Taks but still has a nice weight. My experience this far has been that it's in the "keeper" pile and not the "I could sell it if I had to" pile.

some good dollars for this lens, it would be a great investment but would be worth it, great detail and sharpness, also thinking to buy it

Some in surprisingly dark conditions. The NEX's ability to do nice high ISO really came through

Wow, I would've thought they were taken in the wild, had you not mentioned the word... zoo.

Did someone say national geographic?
