Is it the Komine made one? If so I think you'll like it.

It is, you can tell by the serial number. If it starts with a 28 it's Komine made. I love that lens.

Thanks Nick...interestingly I have found more and more that I can't rely entirely on focus peaking for critical focusing. I need to also zoom in and eyeball it. Focus peaking (at least on my 5n) is a little broad. It's an amazing tool if you're going to use MF lenses but sometimes you just gotta zoom in. I'm happy with the way that flower came out.

I've come to the same conclusion with my NEX-6. If the depth of field is small and you want the fuzz on a flower in focus, better zoom in instead of relying on peaking. Peaking is too easily thrown off if the item you want in focus isn't the highest contrast thing in that part of the image.

I also use the focus magnifier for critical focusing. The shimmer from focus peaking is too general and of more use as a quick DOF indicator for me.

    clean pics dixeyk!

i have several kiron versions of that glass, never been able to get the komine version :-(

the kiron version, on ff, is largely cleaned up by f/5.6, and by f/8 and ~f/10, it's my second-best 28mm prime so far, by a very slim margin.

on a crop sensor, these 28/2 vivs rock.

here is mine at f/8, if anyone wants to see what it looks like:
