    Hey All,

Not posted with any vigour for a while, but today was a good day!

A friend (who I am starting a photography based business with) invited me out to his family farm. His brother has a 1949 Allis-Chalmers tractor which was a great subject!

All shot on the A6000, some with the SEL35F18 and some with the SEL16F28, all with a polarising filter.

Great series, José! Nr. 3, and the one taken from behind your friend and his boy are the best of the bunch IMhO.

Nice coverage...scenery, the tractor, the people, and the flowers !

Had John Deere and Allis Chambers equipment on our farm when I was growing up...that Allis Chambers looks to be in excellent condition...restored/painted I assume...possibly not used regularly?

Yea it's just brought out for special occasions for a trundle around their land - it's not been put on the public road for a year or so though as it's not totally reliable!
Makes a lovely noise as it chugs along though. You have to start it on petrol and then switch over to paraffin as with many tractors of the time http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tractor_vaporising_oil

Very nice. Do you know what all the yellow is? It looks very much like our Field Mustard.

It's rapeseed, which is part of the mustard family, you may know it better as canola?

Nice series. When I was a young commercial photographer we did a lot of work for farm implement and turf care equipment manufacturers. One thing there were paranoid about was accurate color on the equipment. You may want to do some tweaking to make any hard core A-C collectors happy. :)

Thanks for the tip! #4 has a filter applied (was just playing!) and obviously #6 (the colour spot) is a bit off, but I did try and process the rest to get the tractor looking as it really is - it bugs me when stuff doesn't represent reality (unless it's a purposeful far out thing like the filtered/B&W ones above).

Getting color right can be a challenge.
When I was shooting film we'd spend a lot of time getting a filter pack setup so that we could shoot products for a client using transparency film so the product coloring was right on. With color negative film we'd have the printer work to get the color perfect then a retoucher would spend hours making it look the way the art director wanted it.

Now its color checkers, camera calibration, and photoshop, but the objective hasn't changed. I photograph fine art for artists, collectors, gallery owners and museums. Talk about wanting color perfect. :)
Try playing with the HSL sliders in Lightroom. I've found them useful to fine tuning color.

Funnily enough I was playing with the HSL sliders in Photoshop as I am shooting a special Audi event in August (20 cars of the same model all in limited edition Nogaro Blue) and I posted this edit on the event thread saying I'd been practicing shooting similar vehicles!
