Don't know if anyone has any objections to me starting a Christmas-related thread but I thought, well, why not ? We've got the EXCELLENT Fall Challenge thread runnnig nicely and I'm sure that will be followed by an equally excellent Winter Challenge, but here I'm looking for contributors with something specifically Christmas related. I see this as an opportunity to play around with bokeh, focus points, mad blasts of colour, cute little animals, gift wrap etc so let your creative juices flow ! My first few efforts are slightly naff but hey, gotta start somewhere :)

Nothing as dramatic as markoneswift's, but here's a couple of new ornaments. CV 35 @ f/4, heavily cropped.

Ok, I was playing around with these again and got this. 5N/Takumar (Bayonet) 135/2.5 @ f/4, full frame. This shot is 3 frames stacked w/layer masks to bring down the "flame" so you can see the details.

great pictures, the first is beautiful, what lens was used?

If you mean the very first image of mine, it was a Helios 44-2 F/2.0 58mm Russian M42 thread. It has nice circular bokeh to around F/8, I think I took the shot either wide open or maybe F/2.8

I wish the holly bush that mysteriously appeared in my back yard would get red berries on it. The ones on mine look like blueberries.

What's a bit of colour shift post-processing amongst friends? Go ahead and shoot it anyway... :)

Last year's Christmas dinner at my daughter's place

On my hands was this brand spanking new 5N that I got for myself as a Christmas present (lol)... I bought it as an upgrade for my aging point-n-shoot compact camera and I was using it that way when I took this shot (full auto, I didn't even think or care what the settings were). I was still a few weeks away from realizing the 5N's true potential!

Haha... the ham and roast lamb was at the other end of the table and it didn't last long enough to be photographed, lol.

My daughter is a chronic graphic designer, she gasps in agony every time she spots a street sign with bad kerning, lol! She's not one to conform to the usual norms either, so even her Christmas tree is artsy-fartsy and unconventional. Last year she made her husband stop the car to pick-up a dead bush of some sort that she spotted by chance at the side of the road. The tree decorations and as well as the gift wrappings were all hand-made by her that year. Anyway, we were just goofing around with my new 5N taking these random test shots of nothing in particular... they remind me of the 'fresh out of the box' smell of my 5N, ahhhhhhh good times!
