I've been shooting a lot of timelapse videos with my NEX6 and the timelapse app.

I checked out similar apps on the iPhone and Android and they just shoot a continuous video and speed it up. Which my cam can do easily as well. So what is easier for the camera, shooting a 30 min video and speeding it up vs timelapse? Especially since timelapse usues up your shutter which has a finite no of cycles.

It makes sense to me that the video/speed up option would certainly be easier on the shutter mechanism. It's one of the reasons I've never shot time-lapse with my "real" camera, especially when there are so many good time-lapse apps for the iPhone. I just can't see using up my finite number of shutter activations that way.

Thats whats been my concern as well. So it might make more sense to just take a video and then speed it up in some editing software.
