I went to the Grampian Motorcycle Convention yesterday at a place called Alford in NE Scotland. There were various events put on, the most memorable for me was the The Purple Helmets.
A bit photo intensive this post but it was a good laugh so thought I'd share.
All photos taken with the A6000 and 70-300.

    Hope you enjoy.

First the "Methane powered bike", the driver eats baked beans and the methane produced propels the bike.

    The rollover bike

These guys fired the muzzle gun.....

Which hit and broke the plates on this machine...

    Wheelie bin races....

The Naked Pianist...played anything on request

The bike with the 2 guys passed buckets of water to the rear guy on the long bike, which was passed along to the front guy, who poured the water into the glass on the drivers helmet....

The empty buckets were collected on the middle guys head..

    The Human ramp..

and finally the human ramp and.......

 I had seen a photo of the methane-powered bike before, Paul. But the rest of the "event" was new to me. Thanks for posting these. And I bet that guy at the end of the "ramp" in the last photo is going to have some "things" other than his helmet turn purple.

I am not entirely sure about "Mad dogs & Englishmen" now that I seen these images of what the Scots get up to.
Great images Paul. And yes, like David I have also seen the methane powered bike before as well. But it still made me laugh as did the whole series of images.
