    Meet Yingzi (Shadow)

He arrived tonight at 11:30pm from a delayed flight out of Shanghai so I didn't want to disturb him once he fell asleep. He's going to be a big boy as he's only 8 weeks old.

Thank you all. He's a Cane Corso. I had a female Corso 15 years ago in Canada. We are very excited, he's a charming fellow.

I think I'm going to learn a lot about photographing moving objects.

So cute. I've been working on my wife for 10 years now to let me get a dog. So far, no luck. Love dogs and dog photos though. Please keep them coming :).

So the constant movement doesn't surprise me but the difficulty of getting a decent angle has. Any tips from you pet shooters?

Yeah, cropped ears and a docked tail. that's the standard for the breed. My wife was against it and I agreed that since he wasn't going to be a show dog that we would not crop him, but the kennel had already done it and when we met him.... well, you might know how that goes. I told my wife we could refuse and she punched me and now we have a pup.

I don't really understand cropping and docking but then again, I don't understand circumcision either.

The next battle I have is more difficult. I'm a guy, I'll take you cropping my ears over neutering me any time.

What a gorgeous fellow, he's gonna be a ton of fun. Shame about his ears and tail, but he's still a handsome dude, and on the upside he's not equipped with a coffee-table-clearer anymore!

When shooting my dog playing I fire off a stream of continuous shots. One or two of those will come out as a keeper, with jowls and ears flapping in a fetching manner, and if you get a few nice ones it makes a fun series. I leave the lens on autofocus and only sometimes have problems with it keeping up; this was on my D7000 & 18-200, haven't done this with the NEX yet. I'll see if I can dig some up to share tonight after work.
