My girlfriend and I were forunate enough to be able to take 2 months off between jobs to travel around. We spent the two months down under, getting a taste of New Zealand and of select bits of Australia. I'm enjoying processing the shots a lot, since I get to re-live the experience, but it's a lot of data to sift through. Panos are a work in progress, but forthcoming. Eventually.

I had my A7r, 16-35/4.0 and 55/1.8 with me; the former was glued to the camera almost the entire time, as landscapes were the name of the game. Rest of the travel gear included a Sony RX100 (and scuba housing), and an Olympus E-M1, usually with the 50-200 SWD mounted, taking on telephoto duties.

I really enjoyed shooting the A7r; what I'm enjoying less is the camera's propensity to collect dust bunnies on the sensor, meaning some of these shots still require some better cloning/dust removal than DxO Optics can provide. I'm fine-tuning a few shots for print prep, but here's a selection of my personal highlights from a 9-day overland trek from Darwin to Broome, over the Gibb River Road...

Simply wonderful. Beautiful sights and so exquisitely captured. We all need to make time to pursue an extended outing for ourselves! It does the soul a world of good.

Thanks for the kind words guys! The trip was a blast - travelling in that part of Australia is not cheap, but I would not hesitate to go again. We went with a guide (renting a 4x4 for 2 was simply not cost-effective), and I'm glad we did. Alan showed us places and little off the road bush campsites, most with swimming holes, where we were the only people for miles in most cases. I also lucked out with the almost moonless nights for most of the trip :)
