I find that I am always pleasantly surprised at how well this lens does. It punches way above it's weight class. Like all adapted lenses it is subject to sample variation and this one is definitely one of the better ones I've had. Overtime I think I might sell it I take it out and it reminds why I still have it.

    Very nice!

Do you know if any of the lens elements are friction fitted? A knock could then easily skew an element and cause IQ to go out the window.

Well sure. Nice lens and all. But I'd say there's a lot more to that image than just the lens. That's a beautiful image.

I guess I probably should have said I really like using this lens...I can't take credit for the
flower though. It was already there when I arrived.

Don't know but given the rather modest build quality I wouldn't be surprised. That said I have knocked mine around pretty good a few times and so far it hasn't been an issue.

I like the lens too. I just declicked mine as I find the 1.8 is unusable. Tried it at about 2/2.5 and it's a lot better but 2.8 is the sweet spot where the ghosting almost completely goes away.

    Nice flower.

I have often wondered why Konica didn't release it as a 40/2.8.

The Hexanon 40/1.8 is the lens that got me hooked on legacy lenses.

it's a really interesting lens. I first found out about it because it was lens that could easily be adapted to the original four thirds mount. I have had several copies of it and except for one copy they ave all been good. The one I have now is definitely the best of the bunch. It's a funny beast the build quality is not exactly awe inspiring and it's soft and glowy wide open (although sometimes you can make use of that) stop it down a bit and it really shines. Interestingly, I tend to use the Konica 40 more for BW than any other lens. I feel like there is something in the character of the lens that it lends itself to BW better than my other lenses.

The flower, the lens and the photographer, all together contributed to the beautiful image. :2thumbs:
