A wide angle view of the Great Falls. Complete with flag and sunset. The Great Fall was a favorite of founding father, Alexander Hamilton. He was impressed with its power and potential. As Secretary of state, he selected this site as the nation's first planned industrial city which he called a "national manufactory."(Wikipedia).
    Happy Independence Day!

The Great Falls are in Paterson NJ. It's located on the Passaic River. Paterson was indeed founded as a manufacturing city based on the power available from this River. In the US, it's second only to Niagara Falls.

    Beautiful scenery Gary!
Nice shots - perhaps a little too HDR (?) / over-processed for my liking but still very nice ;)

Thanks Nick. I get you on the processing. I try to limit processing in most cases. On the other hand, I am not against it if it allows you to create what you intend to create.
That said, this particular scene was hard to capture do to dynamic range limitations of camera sensor. The sun had fallen behind the horizon so it was dark except for the sky. Inside the cavern of the falls where really dark, however, the water being white, was fine. I also wanted a longer exposure of 1-2 seconds to smooth the water. So I took several pictures at varying exposures and each lacked something (blown skies, harsh water, dark mountain, etc). In the end, bracketing exposures allowed me to get the scene. I spent very little time in post. I combined the pics in Photomatrix using the natural setting and toned down the saturation in Lightroom; done.

FWIW, there was a nasty scene from The Sopranos filmed there.
