I received this lens August July 27, so I have had it only a few days. I, nonetheless, wanted to post some photos that I took with it today. My quick assessment: I like it a lot! It is light, fast, and sharp. Further, I think it is very nicely made and has a sufficiently wide range for my purposes. (I also have the Sony FE 24-105.) The attached photos were taken at our county courthouse. The lens strikes me as plenty sharp at f2.8. I don't see a great deal of difference at smaller apertures. Perhaps results would be different with a higher resolution camera.

These first three were all taken at 19mm. Why 19mm? There were some annoying office lights that showed at 17mm.

Here it is at 22mm at f5.6.

And another perspective at 28mm at f2.8.

Does it do bokeh? I think so, although it can be busy.

By the way, here is a bit of history on the courthouse:

Monroe County, Indiana, Courthouse.

Originally finished in 1908 in the Beaux Arts style, this is the third courthouse built in Bloomington, Indiana. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, having escaped proposed destruction in 1959. (One of councilmen called it a monstrosity; there is no accounting for taste.)

Movement to demolish the courthouse.

Wow, I must really be in a time warp. Here it is Aug 1 and you've had the lens since Aug 27 already.
Doh!
Are your shots taken with the A7iii listed in your sig?

Reason I ask is, I like the shots a lot, have the same camera and am thinking I need something wider than my FE28. This lens might just fill the bill if it isn't too $$$. I haven't googled it yet so don't know.

The pictures confirm the excellent comments I have seen on this lens.

It goes for $899, AlwaysOnAuto.

So do all the 'auto' functions work with this lens on the A7iii?
There is no focus hold button on the lens nor is there a manual/auto focus switch on the lens. But everything works as it should when controlled by the camera. Auto focus is fast and silent, but then my hearing is not the greatest! :)

I found this to be a very helpful review of the lens (it is in English). As he makes clear, the Tamron, like all lenses, is a compromise among several variables, e.g., cost, weight, and focal length.

I ordered one from Adorama but it's on backorder. Hope I get it within the next 30 days for an upcoming trip to Disney

I was able to find a copy on Amazon. It was delivered yesterday evening. I'll be playing with it today.

Do you ever feel like going wider? In other words, do you feel like that 1mm less on the wide side is a big loss? I have the 16-35 f/4 and it's a nice lens but it's a bit too heavy for my taste...
