Yes very nice Jim. I'm not very well versed on landscape photography, is there a rule where to have the horizon line, more sky or more land/ water?

Thanks Kevin, no rule(s) for the horizon that I'm aware of. I adjust by how much cloud I want to include, or how much reflection I want. Unless I want a lot of both and then I break out the fisheye and put the horizon in the middle. :p

Great shots. I'm still learning... What sort of settings do you use for your sunset shots?

Thanks. :) I usually shoot in Av mode at f/8. I almost always shoot off a tripod, at least with manual focus lenses. For long exposures I use a ND400 filter. If I want a darker exposure I'll go to manual mode and adjust until I get the look I want. While I do post process a lot (I shoot RAW exclusively), I do try to get pretty close in-camera to how I see the shot in my mind.

I usually meter in multi mode, which is new for me. I used to spot meter the sky and lock the exposure to get silhouette shots, but since I can't get the button combos I want on the 5N, I have to menu dive for AEL so I just kill the foreground in post. Actually, with the dynamic range of the 5N I find myself enhancing the foreground more often than darkening it so the multi mode metering works pretty well for that.

Everything else is done in post processing. :)

Thanks. I sometimes lament all the photo opportunities that I've missed over the years by not having a camera. Then I think about all the times I've stood with camera in hand just admiring the view only to realize "hey, I could have gotten a picture of that!" Sometimes the camera in your head is enough. ;)
