Clear black sky again tonight...the illuminated area of the moon has increased from 23% to 34% since last night as it heads towards 'half moon'. It also shows a little more vertical in its shape than last night’s predominantly horizontal look.

    Canon FDn 400/4.5 and NEX-7

Just regular individual images...have learned a pretty reliable routine now, having gone after moon shots probably 15-20 times over the past year. Canon FDn 400mm on a steady tripod, self timer or remote trigger to try and minimize as many vibrations as possible, and the magnified view of the Manual Focus Assist on the NEX-7 helps fine tune focus, to name a few things.

(Although, truth be known, IMO the magnification level in Manual Focus Assist is actually way too high...its so high that while having it on temporarily for focusing it seems like breathing on the camera causes enough vibration that the image in the viewfinder gets jittery, wiggles around...but I'd rather have it than not have it).

I never cease to be amazed that we can get the detail we do with just over the counter photography equipment, when you consider that moon is about 239,000 miles away, traveling at about 2300 mph.
