So I got a small bonus at work and my sons first b day was coming up. I thought this is a perfect excuse to buy a new camera for the celebration. lol.

I already have the 7r beast. IQ is unbeatable, that being said, it's a very tough camera to use for my style of shooting. Not that I can't get great pics with it, I do, it's just I know I miss a lot without an electronic front curtain.

I've read tons of reviews and everyone says that there is no shutter shock. I beg to differ. I have a really hard time shooting handheld under 160th of a sec. It does get annoying. I have missed tons of shots because of motion blur.

A7s came yesterday morning but I had to work. Tried it out for a while this Morning before my sons party.

Wow. That's all I can say. The electronic curtain and silent shutter are a breath of fresh air. I can hand hold my 55 1.2 at 1/30 sec without a problem. Yeah I realize that I may not see some of the blur because it is "only" 12mp. But besides the feel of the camera, it feels totally different using it.

You won't see every individual pimple, hair strand or eyelash but the pictures are quite beautiful.

Here are a couple OOC jpgs from the party.

Going to the Bar to take some band pics in a little while to try it out. Only bringing the 55 1.2 and the 85 1.4.

    I will update later.

Can you do a comparison using the 7R sometime?

Seeing what you've written I'd say kudos to me for getting the A7 and not the A7R. I remember the transition from the Panasonic GH2 with shutter shock to the NEX-6 with electronic shutter, was a world of difference indeed.

I recognize Odie again on your picture, right? Reminds me to listen to his singing again, just love what he does. The A7s looks like it's been made for you personally, I'm sure we'll see some excellent concert pics again in no time. Congrats with your son's birthday, the pics are very amusing BTW.

Well I can see that it's great at high ISO but I was just wondering at the difference at "ordinary" iso. Can you see much difference without pixel peeping between the two cameras' output? I love my 7r but the shutter noise and shock can be a real problem sometimes but I was wondering if I would miss the iq from it

I can tell you, without pixel peeping and without cropping it's very comparable. The A7r detail is unmatched hands down compared to the a7s when pix peeping. My A7s is sadly on its way back to Amazon. I got it used and there are some spots on the sensor. I thought a good swabbing would work but it's almost like its chipped in spots. Doesn't come out in the images shot at night or indoor but outside at 5.6-f8 you can see them easily. For the little money I saved buying used, I'm buying a new one next.

It's easy for me to upload there. Have a hard time with flikr. I used vsco film pack for most. Just fuji velvia for most and adjusted the brightness. It's in Cleveland off 185th Cebars is the name.
