My 1st shot with this nice big and wonderful fast prime. Sony A7R II, 50mm f/1.4, ISO100, 1/1600sec. {}
And cars pop with this GEM of a lens, I like it better then my 55 f/1.8. Sony A7S, 50mm f/1.7, ISO100, 1/5000sec. {}
Cloudy overcast days, and the 50mm loves it! This lens is stunningly sharp at f/1.4, but even better with more contrast at f/1.6 and f/1.7. Sony A7S, 50mm f/1.6, ISO100, 1/8000sec. {}
I think its the best 50mm lens we have for E Mount. It seems free from aberations and fringing. The 55mm f/1.8 is a nice lens, but to my eyes this one renders better, though again the 55mm is also sweet. If one could only choose one lens, the smaller cheaper 55mm f/.8 might be the better option, as you are not giving up much, in fact many might and still will prefer the IQ of the 55mm, which has crazy fringing when shot wideopen. the 50mm to my eyes is sharper, in fact I think it is sharper in the center wideopen then my 85mm f/1.4 G Master which is a astonishing lens. If one is seeking the very best IQ, this 50mm and the 85mm GM are a deadly combo. This 50mm is a RAZOR. Sony A7S, 50mm f/1.6, ISO100, 1/5000sec. {}
This one's the Chicken Dinner example for this lens, for me. That spotlight's chromed shell is a flawless focal point.
