Hmmm... seems like Minolta 35-70 is at least same quality (if not better in some pictures)

I guess I will look for a Minolta instead, but then it lacks the wide end even on FF equivalent sensor ... Zero distortion w/ Sony Zeiss is very good at the wide end.

Thanks for sharing, that raw file didn't impress me completely, for me edge and corner sharpness is just not good enough for 16mm, f/5.6 and € 1000. The large central portion looks excellent, but then it should for a lens at that price point.

First link shows more comparisons. Wide side is a little better then zoom end in his comparisons, but as you said for $1000 should be better.

Thanks for posting those, serhan! I'm relieved to see that it appears to be not an exceptional lens. My SELP1650 will still carry the walk-around zoom load for me just fine.

I picked up this lens a few days ago. I'm absolutely loving the convenience of FF FOV 24-105mm F/4. And the IQ is quite good. Worth every cent I spent on it. Some test shots with my favourite subjects:

Got my copy from a nice person through Kijiji and had a possibility to check it before buying (I had a bad copy from B.H. and sent it back couple months ago), no decentering issues here. What I can tell about it after hundreds of pictures? It's a very good lens but not for every one. The focal range, physical size, usability, colors and contrast are just perfect. But there is one thing that may not be welcome fore serious photographers- resolving power, it's lower than supposed to be for this price. I agree to close my eyes on it and enjoying the excellence of other characteristics but if somebody will ask my advice about this lens I'll suggest to check it's files in full resolution before making a final decision. However I love it and enjoying every time of using. It's a very good lens.

I stil haven't decided if I like this lens or not, but since I still have to decide if I will pass to ff or not, I bet this can wait.

The last one taken on 70mm wide open. The worse focal distance for sharpness according to the tests. Not that bad:)))

Very nice. Both photographer and lens!

Wish I could justify the price of this lens. I will have to settle for the 18-105G.

Along the lines of what WestOkid is saying about affordability of this lens: if own or have owned this lens, would you buy it again? Would you recommend it to others?

Yes & yes. I switched from m43 for this lens (and the 10-18mm lens).

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
