I picked up a used RX100 M3 to keep in my car for those rare occasions a flying saucer lands in front of me. It's a nice little camera and it takes good pictures. I'm going to post some photos for some future inquiry someone may have. The shots were taken today at a shopping/restaurant area in Boca Raton called Mizner Park. Old man Mizner was the first developer of Boca. At one time, Boca Raton had the most millionaires per capita in the United States. To appreciate how Floridians view Boca Raton, you have to walk among them in the galleries, bistros, and benefits. But, I digress, more on Boca below.

Nice Ferrari but I'd have gone with yellow brake calipers instead of orange. LOL. Like I'd ever be able to own a Ferrari. I went through Boca once many yrs ago and felt out of place and they knew we weren't on the same financial page.

Since we ended with a Ferrari, I'll tell you my Boca Red Ferrari Story.

Boca Raton's reputation is very much like the Valley Girl / California we all laughed at a few years ago. We've all seen a beer can or beer bottle in a street gutter, but I've had the pleasure of seeing a Dom Perignon bottle in a gutter. At a Boca Raton intersection. That's Boca Raton in a nutshell.

Boca Raton is very special to its residents. At least they think they're special. $50 for 3 teaspoons of food is very Boca. $30 martinis are very Boca. $300,000 Ferraris are very, very, Boca...........

A few years ago, I took a date to a movie at Mizner Park (The pics above). After the movie, while everyone else rushed off to be seen in one of those $30 martini places, we just walked along the sidewalk to the parking garage. Soon we came upon a brand new Red 430 Ferrari. It was a beautiful automobile. We stopped and looked it over. The interior was tan. As I began to explain to my date the significance of a Ferrari, a brand new Yellow 430 pulled up alongside the parked Red 430. The driver in the Yellow Ferrari took his car out of gear, set the parking brake, and stood up on his seat. As he craned his neck to look into the parked Red Ferrari, another Red Ferrari pulled up behind the Yellow Ferrari stopped next to the parked Red Ferrari. Like the driver in the Yellow Ferrari, the driver in the Red Ferrari (#2) stood on his seat. He yelled out to the driver standing on his seat in the Yellow Ferrari, "SEE! I TOLD YOU, YOU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A RED ONE."

I don't think I stopped laughing for 72 hours. I've been to Rome and never saw 3 Ferraris in a week, let alone 3 Ferraris within 10 square yards. The drivers, Generation X, bless their hearts.

I wish I would have had a camera that night.

Pictures, please - lol.

Boca Raton - back in the day, there was a ton of IBM work that happened down there related to systems I worked on, and the IBM PC. I used to see references to it all the time in various documentation and research whitepapers. I always wondered if the IBM dudes there had the stereotyped suits and ties, or Hawaiian-style shirts and sandals, heh.

The IBM campus was a beautiful place to work. I was employed nearby and even worked with some people from IBM while it was closing down. I don't know who is using the structures now, but it was a big place. In this photo, I95 is at the top of the frame.

Interesting, it does look like a beautiful campus. There is a section on IBM in the Wikipedia article on Boca Raton. It says in 2017 someone was planning to convert it to retail/office space, though one building had been converted into a school. I wonder what will happen to the room and table where Bill Gates signed his famous contract with IBM.

Now about those UFO pictures... :roflmao:
