I dropped my Sony Cybershot point and shoot, and now, it no workie. so sad. :frown::frown:

I want a Nex........ for a new point and shoot.

Is the sensor of the 3-n and the Nex 6 one in the same? Meaning that IQ should be identical/equal?

I do not believe so but don't quote me. I think it has the same mp but the ISO is different.

Yes sir, they are both 16mp, but I am wondering if the IQ is identical between the two.....

I am leaning towards the smaller 3-n for my point and shoot, but if the nex 6 has better IQ, I might do that.

Well all I can tell you is that I've had the 6 for about a week or so after upgrading from the 5n. It has very similar iq.

I don't use the new auto focus phase detecting lenses... I mostly shoot legacy glass.

The 6 feels like a solid machine as where the 5n felt very small, not that the 6 is big by no means. Just feels more solid.

the lowlight band shots I need to do, I can't use flash, or I should say, I wont use flash, as this is/can be distracting to the musicians, my little Sony cybershot used to be good at that.

It slipped from my hands and smashed on the ground.

Yeah. That sucks. The low light capabilities of the 6 are really nice.

I just picked up a canon FL 55mm 1.2 and a speed booster.

It will make the lens about an F.85

I never use a flash either. I like the ambiance of stage lights. And I also like shooting b&w.

We sound rather similiar with shooting styles....

    I likie you!

I too like a mix of some b&w with some color shots.

Thanks Gary, I will read that review, it is in my mind though, if the IQ is the same between the two, the 3-n might be the choice for me, I don't mind not having a viewfinder.

Lucille, you will if you shoot a lot in bright sunlight, believe me. Hard to focus manually....or do much of anything, with screen glare.

And at concerts. I actually bought the EVS for the 5n when I had it. It works wonders.

Thanks, Deadbear, but I already have the NEX-5N, so the 3N would be a step backward for me. Moving forward, I had thought the NEX-7 was the clear choice, but I had concerns over the clumsy button layout, etc, and the only real attraction for me was the 24MP sensor, which, as it turns out, is not all that it's cracked up to be when compared with the NEX-6. So, I will be getting an NEX-6 ASAP (probably August or September).

Alot of my car shots are in bright sunlight, I usually use autofocus, so I just aim the camera and shoot. I tend to use manual focus in low light and in pitch darkness when shooting a car.

Heck, in bright sunlight I am wearing my sunglasses and cant see the lcd much anyways, just aim and shoot.
