For something a bit different I've been trying some astrophotography.

From left to right: Mars, M8 Lagoon Nebula, M20 Trifid Nebula:

I just got this lens today. I had read that it wasn't a very fast focuser, but it's plenty fast for anything I would use it for. Some summer pics of the family:

the first one looks like someone is meditating in mid-air, levitation has finally come to fruition! Downright funny that.
LOL, I was thinking that too when I saw it :D.

I also noted that your kids don't have a tablet or a laptop with them, no waterproof stuff available? No detox problems? :)
Ha, I give them a hard time for all the electronics, but I have to admit they do a lot of running around outside too .

Oh, that's really cool!
Thanks, Connie! Sony Eye AF is great at keeping the focus on the eyes rather than the bubbles for a shot like this. I tried getting this king of shot last week with my Micro 4/3 kit, and a lot more often ended up focused on the bubbles.

A7iii right Amin?
I want to pull the trigger for it (especially since I hear such great comments about its eye af accuracy) but I don’t know if i can convince myself to change my shooting style on the weddings and go from AF-S to Continuous tracking...

A9, Nick, I got a pretty awesome deal on a used one.

I've always been an AF-S guy, but the way Sony does AF has me using AF-C for the first time.

My A9 is set up to default to AF-C with flexible spot lock-on AF (spot movable with joystick), but other modes are just a button press away:
  • The C3 button toggles me from flexible spot to wide or vice versa (still AF-C)
  • Holding down the AF-ON button while shooting puts me in Eye AF (still AF-C)
  • Holding down the AEL button while shooting puts me into AF-S mode using whatever spot I had chosen in AF-C
It's a very flexible setup that makes it a breeze to get the best of AF-C and AF-S
