I received the lens yesterday & shot 3 or 4 quick shots as I'm in the middle of migrating
my 3 TB of data to a new 6 TB raid box.....

about a 50% crop & downsized, no sharpening, just adjustments from RAW. More to come
after I shoot some after my doctor's appointment this morning.

I upgraded from the A mount 70-300 so as to utilize the A7RII's broader AF
points. This shot was at 300mm

    Nice results!
It should be a great lens although I'm suprised on how expensive it is...

Sony priced it on par with the Canon L version of this lens. Looks like an excellent lens from what we have seen so far and probably comparable to Canon L series. I would agree that something cheaper should also be an option. Sony seems to be releasing the high quality lenses first and then filling in with cheaper lenses after.

I'm just browsing this forum before I go off to probably that same photo fair today. Hope to shoot something as nice as you did!

Still surprising on the basis that it competes in size weight and price with the 70-200 f4.

I took a look at this lens because it is black (against the white of the 70-200 f4). What put me off is the 270 degree zoom throw compared to the 90 degree zoom throw of the 70-200. It certainly looks to be a 'good' 70-300 from all the shots I have seen.

Mind you the 70-200 is no slouch. A head to head comparison with the 70-200 f4 that I saw on Dpreview shows that the 70-200 looks a little better. In fact the 70-200 cropped to 300 on the A7rii looked a little better than the 70-300 at 300.
