I've really taken a liking to this lens in the last year. Normally my 55/1.8 gets the most use on my camera, but my 28/2 has slowly been catching up as a walk-around lens. It's much easier to get shots of my fast-moving toddler using a wider focal length!

Beautiful set. Love the first one. Like you, I find myself using my 28 over my 55 when walking around. Can't go wrong with either, IMO!

Where is this? You in a tall building, or a helicopter/airplane? I'd guess a building as it looks like perhaps a long exposure to me.

Rediscovered some 'auto' focus rings I'd gotten some time ago (Christmas gift?).
Decided to try them out on the A7ii w/FE 28/2.
Here's a shot with the 10mm tube:

And here's one with the 16mm tube:

Both shots are SOOC jpegs done with just a quick and dirty setup on the tripod with available light from the front window (image left). I think this shows that with some serious setup this makes for a more than viable macro lens setup.
What do you think?

The second picture shows some serious fringing at the lower left side of the battery's label; also a fair amount of pin-cushion distortion is visible at the bottom of the battery. Would put me off, to be honest.

Like I said Ad, it was a very quick setup. I don't think I got the sensor perfectly aligned parallel to the surface so that may be adding to what you're describing.

Hmm, doubt it. Both aberrations don't really depend on having the subject plane parallel to the sensor plane, so I suspect that this won't go away by doing that. I'm not surprised really that this happens with a fast wide-angle lens that is used outside its specified range. The pincushion distortion may be correctable in Lightroom as well as (part of) the chromatic aberration. I can imagine that this will work well with e.g. flowers if you're able to mitigate fringing, wide-angle lenses are fun to use for that.
