Guess we need a thread for this lens. Picked mine up on Saturday, trading in my 12-24/4 and it's associated 150x150 filters.

Small, light, wide, all the buttons. This thing is nice. A quick couple of images while we were at a friend's house that lives near the camera store.

A9 color looks different than A7, I personally prefer the A9's!
Are they JPEGS straight out of the camera? Also, can you remember how far you are from that table?

I really wanted this lens and still may get one in the future. I opted for the Zeiss Batis 18mm f2.8 since I got such a good price but I'm having second thoughts. I'll definitely keep an eye on this thread.

The first two are from Capture One with all defaults. The last had to have highlights recovered and shadows raised.

The first two are also close to, or at minimal focus distance. I think the end of the lens was about 2-3 inches from the table. I know I was pretty damn close. I kept backing off until AF would lock on something. The lens cap is the 67mm cap from the lens, for an idea of scale.

I have a shot of some dominoes done in MF where I got closer and farther until I got the contrast markers. I'll include SOOC JPEGs of that and the matching one from the produce.

The 20mm/1.8 has a aperture ring, with an AUTO setting to let the camera set the aperture, or you can set it manually. I have been leaving the lens set on AUTO since switching to other lenses I usually want the same aperture.

The lens also fits very tight on my A9. My wife was helping me change lenses last night.I was shooting the sunset with the 70-180 and switched to the 20mm. She must have gripped the lens by the aperture ring and I didn't look - I just expected the camera to set f/8.

Alas, all the shots with the 20mm were at f/18.

This is the A9 color which is a little different, in a very good way though. I’m not really impressed by A7s’ color.
Anyway, thanks for helping me making a decision. Fantastic shots sir, two thumbs up!

It appears that the only difference between your last two shots is the ISO setting. Correct?
Yes and no. They were shot as part of a bracket. So within the same second and yes at separate ISOs to do the bracket. But the exposures were adjusted in post to match more closely.
