Jannik Peters just published a comprehensive review of the new Sony FE 135mm 1.8 Gmaster @ Review: Sony FE 135mm F1.8 GM - phillipreeve.net

Let's just say he was very impressed.

"I will skip the detailed discussion of the different apertures as it will be very boring. From f1.8 to diffraction limit, this lens performs exactely the same (on my A7iii) with the exception of vignetting wide open. This is nothing short of sensational and probably the best performance we have seen yet on the blog. Seeing that, I have no reason to disbelieve Lensrentals claim that the Sony FE 1.8/135 GM is the sharpest lens out there besides super telephoto lenses."

I love that site. I almost always look there for a review when considering a lens.

At $1900, I will not be able to either confirm or deny his results. :(

Yup. No more $1000-plus lenses for me. It's a good thing Tamron's FE zooms are less expensive that. But more power to those who can afford this 135 and others like it.

Having a hard time finalizing my lenses. Primarily a landscape shooter and occasionally a portrait shooter.

I am settled on getting these:

    Sony A7R3 with VG-C3EM
    Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM
    Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM
Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS
    Sony FE 1.4x Teleconverter

Now, I am thinking either of the following and leaning towards primes. The 70-200 weighs as much as the primes together.

    Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM

    Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.2
    Sony FE 135mm f/1.8 GM

The only other lens I would need, famous last words, would be a macro. The new Laowa looks to be the perfect candidate.

Pretty excited to be back in Sony. Advice much appreciated! Thanks!

Well, it certainly looks like you'll be covered for zooms with that first group. Depending on exactly what you'll be shooting, I would suggest EITHER the 100-400mm OR the 70-200mm. But not both. And Sony's 90mm FE f/2.8 is a pretty fantastic macro lens.
