I have been looking around for a longer lens to go on the A7. The 70-400 A mount is obviously great but is way too big for travel. The 70-300 isnt really much of an increase in focal length over my 70-200. That leaves the 500 f8 reflex which is longer and lighter than both and definitely cheaper. It is a mirror lens which comes with some drawbacks but I have seen some great images out of it. It is screw autofocus so wont be able to take advantage of the laea1 adapter but seems to work fine with the laea4 (which I already have).

    Anyone tried this?

You could also go for a Sigma or Tamron A mount zoom lens, like the Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3.

Cheapest option would be to get an A6000, and use with your existing 70-200. It only gets you to 300mm, but you'd have better autofocus and frames per second.
