I am in need of a mid-range zoom lens for my APSC A6400 and A6500 cameras. I like the image quality of the Tamron 28-75mm but, I'd like something a bit wider on the short end. Does anyone have any experience with the Sony 16-70mm ƒ/4 Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar T* ZA OSS vs Sony 18-105mm f/4 OSS as far as: 1. Image Quality and 2. Auto focus capability

Obviously the Sony 18-105mm has a wider focal range but, I can live with the 16-70mm if the image quality is top notch and the AF is right in there with other Sony lenses...

I got a good deal on the Sony-Zeiss 24-70mm f/4 OSS lens at $405 plus ten bucks for shipping.

If I ever want to add a full frame camera, this will be the a lens I can use.

While 24mm is a bit narrow for an APSC camera, it is wider than 28mm and the price is great!

As soon as I get it. I'll be selling the 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens plus the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS which came with the NEX-7 I just bought to convert to Infrared... I have sold a bunch of Canon gear and with the proceed can easily afford this lens.

I looked at the DXOmark scores for this lens in comparison with the 16-70mm f/4 Vario Tessar and it seems like the 24-70mm has superior performance,,,
