I'm actually very impressed with this lens, I don't know if I have a very good copy or that's how they are but using it on my A6000 has certainly not left me disappointed.
It's sharp, minimal distortion (corrected by the camera I know), even the CA's and edge sharpness seem fine.
Considering it's a kit lens and sells for nothing second hand, is small and light there's not much not to like.
    I'm now considering getting the 55-210 Sony lens then I'll have a light compact alternative kit to my A7R2 kit, comprising A6000 + CV12, 16-50 & 55-210.

I also have no complaints about the 16-50. It's quite competent and allows for the smallest form factor when needed. I can stick my a6000 into a large pocket with it.

I enjoyed using that lens when I still had my NEX-6. The 24-75mm eq. range was right in my wheelhouse, and its IQ was better than most of the legacy lenses I was using at the time. I think it had the misfortune to come out when people were shocked, SHOCKED to read that it had digital correction as part of its design. :eek-30:

Nowadays, as with EVFs, most camera users understand that there are some advantages to that approach.

I took a hiatus from photography, due to many other demands.

Tomorrow we're leaving on a vacation to Florida, that we take each year.

Typically I take my best lenses. Tomorrow, I will be leaving with just 16-50 and 55-210. I should see how it compares to all the other trip photos :)

I would have done the same in vacation. I usually try to bring both kits + one good indoor fast prime. I recently bought the JJC auto lens cap for the kit zoom, it makes my kit zoom so much easier to use in grab, go and shoot. A worthy investment for around $15.

And I use the original kit zoom cap on my Zonlai 25mm f/1.8 E-mount prime, a perfect use of the kit zoom cap, nothing is wasted.

I have both lenses and I am more than happy with both of them. Agree with you 100% on your comments re the 16-50.
