Really creamy bokeh! Is that Thai basil in the 2nd photo?

I mounted the lens today for the first time and I was surprised why I couldn't impose f/2.8 working on A priority.
I have to go and read the manual about it as there are some more things to learn about it.
Just an interesting shot to start @5.6 !

I have a small problem which I am sure you guys, can help me in no time.

I bought a Sony A7 III along with a 100mm GM. As usual, I shoot A priority. Today, I mounted the lens for the first time and was very surprised when I could not adjust the aperture using the dial in the camera. The ring was at the A position on the lens but I couldn't go under f/5.6.

I have Googled a bit but couldn't find a way to turn this around.

    Thank you !

So the aperture ring is actually a "T" ring. Interesting. Like a CINE lens.
The exif data reports it as f/5.6 but it's really F/2.8 with a T value of 5.6.

That is interesting. This is the only non-cine lens I have ever heard of to do that. Sometimes I wonder if we shouldn't be using T-stops instead of f-stops, but there are probably reasons.

Really like this one. It has lots of strong geometry in the composition, something I often enjoy, and I like the colors.

Ha! I had an 1100GS back in the day. Ever try to lift one of those things up when it decides to take a nap in the dirt? :rolleyes-20:
