The sky was broken to overcast all afternoon today, with a higher hazy layer one could see through the gaps. I don't know the meteorological name for the cloud formations, but the hoped-for sunset never developed beyond a pale orange tinge on a few clouds. Despite the bland sky, I walked around for a while, practicing shooting silhouettes with the sun at different angles. Here are a few of my favorites. NEX-5R, Vivitar 24/2.8, ISO200, Program mode.

Wow. Great scenery and well done twilight shots. Handheld I guess?

These are a great combination of silhouetted foreground and detailed background. I really like the first one.

Thanks guys. Yes, they were handheld. I love the flip-up screen that allows me to look down at the screen while moving the camera around to get the framing I want. I also use the little cheat on the display that tells you when the camera is level.
