I am sure lots and lots of rain does not hurt either.

We have on very rare occasions had carrots in our garden that were almost that big. But they are definitely not even close to that big normally.
I think the soil besides needing to be fertile, needs to be rather "soft" in depth.
Just a thought...

Beautiful day in the high desert mountains this past Saturday. Middle of winter, we are at 4,000' elevation and it's 1 degree short of 70 outside. Just a few weeks ago this same area had over 1' of snow. Both taken with A73 and Batis 135mm at f3.5 with natural light and a reflector.

Two my wife took of me while travelling to the coast this weekend for Valentine's Day, Hampton Beach (NH) and the Nubble Lighthouse (ME). And yes, that's a Sony α hat I got from a Sony rep a while back.

Love these! Just wish she didn't cut off your feet in the last one.

I would consider cropping it to half-way up your shins - then find a nice frame and hang it.

I'll point it out to her to be more careful. She did take one in the other orientation. Less of the island, more of me...
