First one with my Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 50mm f/1.7, which I paid 4 euros for!
Shot wide open?
Very nice, it does lok wide aperture. I like the way the white orchids almost fade into the bright background. Could be worth developing that idea with a white board as background.
The thick vertical branch? in the bottom right is pretty distracting for me, but other than that, it's really nice.
Thanks! I have the same idea, going to play with that over the weekend!
The branch is something that freaked out, too. But, after some PP'ing, I think I can live with it
I find mine quite usable shot wide open for certain circumstances, but IMO here it would look better stopped down
Lovely composition btw
Yeah, I'm still figuring everything out. Thanks, though!
My photo just reached 'Upcoming' on 500px! Quite a big deal to me

Congrats! Although it's silly to aspire to that kind of attention, it's always fun when it happens
I think it also shows what a good lens can do for your photography. Finding a good lens and learning how to make the most of it, really is the only secret.
Personally, I've been Explored on flickr more in the last few weeks than ever before. Mostly, it's down to the colours produced by my Minolta W.Rokkor 35/2.8. I love shooting with this lens and occasionally, that translates into a decent photo.
Yup, that's what I learned with this. Lenses really can transform a good photo into a great one. Feels good, though!
Hey, any time any of my photos get greeted with more than a shrug, it feels great. Congratulations!
Guys, it's 'Popular' now! Super happy with that
