I wonder why the 50mm f1.8 can not be used in Phase Detection AF mode on the NEX 6? The 55-210 works fine. The 50mm is a new lens. Bad omission by Sony.

    That seems silly.

Agreed, this stopped me from buying the NEX-6 for my Dad for Christmas - PDAF doesn't work with either of my native lenses 50/1.8 and 18-200LE so there would be no benefit from sharing (he is an all-in-one shooter and I thought the 18-200 + 6 would make his day - well not if AF is the old CDAF since he comes from DSLRs).

I am getting such awesome shots from my 50/1.8 on my NEX-3 that I could not care about any kind of supposed improvement of AF. Besides after this "improvement" there will be another next year, then another. NEX-6 supposed at B&H in a week and my preorder is awaiting!
