Some images from a 1 week vacation in this amazing Island. Due to the recent introduction of low cost flights, it is getting quite busy and popular. On a side note, it is a joy to hike with the light Alpha 7 system.

I really like the tree canopy. I could not help wondering if those lakes are inside calderas; they remind me a lot of Crater Lake.

Thanks all. Yes, these are caldera lakes.

As for the mounds in #5, folks cook the famous Furnas Cozido (meat and vegetables) for 6 hours using the heated ground from the geothermal energy. The village of Furnas is famous for its "fumarolas", here is a guy cooking corn. The downside is the sulphurous smell:)
