I want to get Samyang 85mm f1.4 lens for Canon EF and then put it on my Nex-5R throught EF to E adapter. But sometime ago i saw info, abot Samyang cine lens made for video. This lens has same optical scheme (if i not mistake) but different in aperture ring (declicked). I read, that Samyang will start selling this in feb 2013, but i already found a price on some site.

Lens already made for e-mount. Price is lower that 85mm f1.4 standart lens.

I can't find page on english, but on russian site Samyang already put info about lens with retailing price.

Can anyone tell me how vdslr (cine) lens work for still photo? What will be different?

    Found comment about it:

Anyone tried cine-style lenses for stills on nex?

No I haven't, but have seen these before and was also curious about the very fast 1.4 aperture. It's essentially a 127mm on a NEX... so should be a fantastic portrait lens. That focal length would also make it ideal for dimly lit stage and theater applications.

Most lenses used for still shots have short rotation between minimum focus distance and infinity. That comment you posted alludes to the fact that the rotation ratio is quite slow, so that can be a problem for rapid focusing needed in action or sports application.

I've always wondered about the focusing barrel being a 'gear.' I'm not a videographer but I'm assuming the focus barrel can be connected to a servo pinion to activate a smooth focus action by remote (just guessing)...
