    Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 e-mount

Hello all! It's been almost 10 months since I last posted. Had a hell of a year which left very little room to shoot anything other then my kids. And I don't like to post too many of those on the web. But now that I'm out and about again I thought I would share my latest round with the new e-mount native Rokinon 35mm. This lens works with nex style cameras as well on the full frame A7/r/s. My Shots are with the base line A7.

First off this lens is big. Bigger then the original a mount as the lens is the same basically with a 'built in permanent e adaptor'. So it's pretty long. I measured 144mm or 5.665 inches. According to b&h it weighs 1.6lbs (735 g). It's a hefty sucker even though it's mostly plastic. The permanent e-mount adaptor seems to be metal however.

I can't say I'm thrilled with the mount. Has a fair bit of pay when mounted. I can't distort the image enough to notice by moving the lens around but if I had bought the mount separately I might be inclined to return it for one with a tighter fit.

I don't think I'm keeping this Lens as one of the main reasons for switching to the Sony was for its compactness and this lens throws all that away. If I was still shooting with my 7D I might think differently.

Though if size really doesn't matter to you then you would be hard pressed to find a lens better than this lens in sharpness and overall render beauty. I did very little if any color correction on these and they where all shot jpeg. Let me know what you think!

Thanks. Yes it's just too big. Took it for a few more shots this morning. Really nice character but not practical for me. Think I may keep looking. [emoji13]

I also have this lens in alpha mount. I love it but it is big. If size didn't matter I would use it more often. Now when I need a 35-40mm I use the voigtlander 35 1.2 or the pen f 38. They are just so much smaller. The canon FD 35 f2 SSC is good, small but heavy.

Yea I think I'm going to stop messing around and pull the trigger on the CV 35 1.2. But I was kind of hoping to see the 35 loxia by now. At least good glass holds it's value. [emoji6]

In all actuality I like the focusing on the rokinon better than the CV.
