So my sister in law performed a show last week and I photographed it along with some other local photogs. I posted pics on Facebook and have received a couple of messages asking why I would ruin a perfectly good photo by adding grain and making it look like a pic from a 70’s Polaroid. I see these photos as more artsy than documentary. To each their own. I’ll post a link to the pics. Not sure if it will work but check them out if you can. I don’t mind creative criticism but flat out saying they are basically garbage is not cool. Just venting.

    Hi Kevin,
I enjoyed your series. I think your "look" works for the venue.

Vent away and don't let it bother you.
It's usually a way of compensating for a fear of their own.

Agree...'holier than thou attitude' to try and cover up their own shortcomings...and people are especially bold on the Internet when they know they can hide behind a PC on a network somewhere.

I really liked them and I think the look works well with the subject matter. I have a word to describe the folks that bashed your work...TOOL.

People like that live sad, empty lives. One of the reasons I never signed up for Facebook is that it makes it much easier for me to ignore them.

The only people you have to satisfy is yourself........ and the people that commission your work.

If those that criticize didn't pay, tell 'em to shut the f^&k up.

And even if they did pay, tell 'em to shut the f^&k up.

    I hate people.

I always appreciate honest constructive criticism but in this case it's more being an A-hole. It's says much more about them then your photos; which by the way I really like.

That’s what I thought. The bottom line was pretty much why would I spend so much money on a 42mp camera and then make the pictures look like a 20 dollar toy camera.

Insecure, compensating talent-less gear whores. Stereotypical response from such trolls. The shots all look great, and the atmosphere was well conveyed. A gritty honky tonk stage. I don't recall a bad stage performance photo from you. Their argument ranks up there with 'why buy a color camera and convert all your shots to B&W?' There's a litmus test for complete cluelessness!

The photos remind me of the ones printed on the front and back of LP covers. I would stare at those pictures while listening to the music, each art form complementing the other. Really nice work!

Looked through the photos. There's nothing wrong with them. Yours was a creative choice. Stick to it because it's yours. Discussing or arguing it with some online moron is beneath the artist.

They look fine to me! Very low key and subtle. I like it!

Though I do have issue with overdone things like VSCO filters and other gimmicks that litter places like Instagram with that off WB look and kitschy stuff like prisms, and LED lights! :D
