Does the mobile app let you do it?

To get the A6000 to accept IR wireless commands it has to be in remote shoot mode, so cannot be in continuous shoot mode.
I'm guessing wired remotes don't have that requirement? The option you suggest uses its own wireless not the camera IR so gets around the issue.

IR doesn't work well outdoor anyway, so I suggest a radio trigger.
The radio receiver connects to camera through USB interface. Any radio trigger with Bulb mode should work.

yes, as fast as the camera & SD card can take and as long as buffer is not full until you press 2nd time.

BTW, I used a Sony 32GB 94MB/s SD card, so your mileage might vary depends on card write speed.

So what modes were the camera in and the remote? You did this via RF?

Camera modes: AF-C, Drive mode Continuous Hi, Image Size 24M, JPEG fine.
    Remote is in Bulb mode.

I tried both wired (transmitter only) and wireless (tx + receiver with USB connection). They both worked.
    TW-282TX is a 2.4GHz radio remote, it's not IR.

    Glad I could help.

The transmitter doesn't have Power on/off button. Press any button and it will turn on. To avoid accidental presses & draining of battery while carrying around, some user suggested putting it in a sunglasses hard case.

    enjoy your new toy.
