does it work with Nex 6 ( I have 2 ) or do I have to spring for a DSLR - 2 remote?

I can't see why it wouldn't. I use it on my NEX-5N and A7 fine.

My DSLR1 works the shutter release on both my 7 and 6. Haven't tried video.

Just went through this learning curve for my NEX-7...a separate Start/Stop button/feature like on the DSLR2 is required for Video.

Thanks, off to KEH for another item, I would primarily use the remote to trigger video.

    Appreciate it!

Yes, and as I came to understand it, unless you found an older DSLR1 still in someone's inventory, the only Sony Remote in production is the DSLR2...it has everything the DSLR1 has, plus

I use the DSRL2 with start/stop function for video. I find it very useful. And you don't have to worry about erasing or change anything. Only Shutter, 2 sec and the start/stop is working. The other buttons are for use only when connected to a tv or monitor.
BTW. The remote only works when the camera is in remote-mode. But you can leave it in that mode - the shutter button on the camera still works fine :)
