Just got out my NEX 6 and noticed what sounds like a rattle in the body:dash2:this can't be normal right? I put the lens on and still has the rattle but it does take a shot.any suggestions?

    Uh oh.

Don't have the 6, but gonna assume this is not normal.

sounds like something broke inside like a piece of plastic.

My NEX-6 has a slight rattle, and it sounds just like a small, broken piece of plastic. I've never noticed it until I shook it. Doesn't sound like anything's broken though. I have no idea what it might be, but my guess is that it's normal.

Sounds like it could just be the accelerometer used to detect portrait vs landscape orientation of the camera.

You haven't one of those Sigma lenses on it, do you? They sound like they're broken when the camera is powered off.

Edit: Oops, saw that you had the rattle without lens as well.

I had the same issue with my NEX-7. Still do. Of course it was/is the loops.

Another duh moment in a life littered with them. ;-)

Well, on mine it's definitely not the loops. I use a hand strap, so I removed the left loop long ago. And while checking I made sure to press down tightly on the right loop so it wouldn't rattle.

I bet dbmiller is correct, it's the accelerometer or some other such internal, intentionally loose part.

Hello Darren. Forgive me for making such a simple suggestion, but I had an annoying rattle as well. It turned out to be as simple as the clasps that the (mine were not attached) strap attaches to. I held them down and shook the body, and no rattle. Again, forgive me if this sounds childish or patronizing, but sometimes the simplest starting point is the best. Good luck , and I hope it is not a loose internal part.

    Could it be the shutter?

I assume that the NEX Cameras have to have fairly loose shutter to achieve their 10 FPS speed.
